We think the best thing about our company is our employees! They make us who we are and drive our success. As you’ve gotten to know more about our company, we also want you to get to know our employees.
Our second employee spotlight features Arnulfo who does a lot for GCMS in Latin America. We couldn’t imagine our company without him! Here’s more about Arnulfo in his own words.
Tell us a little bit about the type of work you do at GCMS?
I am responsible for consolidating existing customers and growing the GCMS business in Latin America, detecting new opportunities, closing deals, and understanding the customer’s needs and concerns.
When you aren’t at work, what keeps you busy?
My wife and my 3-year-old son, family matters.
What is your role at GCMS?
Commercial Operations Director, Latin America
Have you always been in this industry? If not, what brought you where you are today?
I have been in the Energy Services business since 1997 when I was the Project Purchasing Manager with Babcock and Wilcox, then I moved to GE for 11 years working on different projects in Mexico and South America and then spent 5 years at InterGen working on the commercial operations and LTSA renegotiations.
What’s one thing you love about what you do for a living?
Meet new people, make new friends, and visit new cities. Over the years, I have learned that networking is essential. You never know when you’re going to need certain connections. I always maintain an excellent relationship with all my friends no matter what. Even if they are competitors or we experienced stressful situations on the negotiation table, I can go and get a beer with all of them despite tense situations.
Tell us a little bit about what you do for fun.
Take vacations at the beach. I also love photography and movies and I like to edit my own photos and videos. I am a movie fan. The only fun thing in my hometown was the Cinema because the TV signal was too weak at that time in my neighborhood. I was watching movies since I was probably 5 or 6 and I have a good collection but now my son takes all my time.
Do you have a nickname? If so, what is it?
My name (Arnulfo) is too complicated to be pronounced, even in Mexico. 20 years ago, a Brazilian friend told me, “from now you will be Arnie Sands” (Arenas – my last name- but in English.) Feel free to call me Arnie if you want.
Favorite sports team(s)?
Usually, I don’t follow any games, but if I can, I like to see the finals ( soccer, baseball, football, a good boxing match etc.) I don’t have any favorite in particular.
Favorite travel destination?
Any city with a beach, I love the sea.
Tell us one random fact about you.
I grew up in Puerto Vallarta , I love Puerto Vallarta
